Losing our Jocianna

There are some souls who pass through this world quietly, and then there are souls who change everything. You were the one who changed everything for me.

For many years, when the darkness in my life felt unbearable and I wasn’t sure I could keep going, you were the reason I did. When I felt like I had nothing left, I still had you. Somehow, that was enough to keep me here. You didn’t know it, but the simple fact that you needed me — and that you loved me — saved my life more times than I can count.

You were never just a dog. You were my guardian, my partner in survival, my constant in a world that often felt uncertain and painful.

You carried yourself with a fearless spirit that always amazed me. You faced the world with this rebellious confidence, as if nothing could break you. Watching you live that way taught me how to do the same. When I was weak, you were strong enough for both of us. When I cried, you were always there, quietly comforting me in the way only you could.

You were there for every heartbreak, every betrayal, every moment I thought I couldn’t go on. And you were there for the victories too — every hard-won step toward the dreams I fought so hard to build. Somehow you understood all of it.

You taught me more than you could ever know. You taught me courage. You taught me loyalty. You taught me how to stand back up when life tried to knock me down. Most of all, you taught me how to love — not just deeply, but fiercely.

And because of you, your legacy didn’t end with us.

You became the matriarch of my kennel, and through you came dozens of descendants who have gone on to change countless lives. The same strength, heart, and devotion that saved me lives on in them. Families and people who may never know your name are still feeling the impact of the spirit you brought into this world.

That is the kind of legacy most beings never achieve.

But no matter how many lives your line touches, no matter how many dogs carry your blood and your spirit, there will only ever be one you.

You were the one who stood beside me when the world felt unbearable. You were the one who stayed when everything else fell apart. You were the one who helped me become the person I am today.

The truth is simple: I would not be here if it weren’t for you.

You gave me my life back long before I ever realized it.

And every day that I keep moving forward, every life your descendants improve, every dream I continue chasing — all of it is part of the legacy you helped create.

Thank you for staying with me when I needed you most.
